Half Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

Started running Jan. 26, 2009.  I've ran 6 days a week since and have only missed 2 days.

I no longer hate to run.

 May 9, 2009 ran I-Drive 5K in Orlando FL in 29:58

Short-Term Running Goals:

Run a 5K in 30 minutes.

I have just decided to train for a half marathon.

  • July 11 Farmington Festival Days 1/2 Marathon

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run even after my races and be an old running woman.  After my half I just may decide on a full marathon but right now just the thought of the half is daunting.

Personal:

I am married to Matt (Twinkies) who loves to run.  I have been the supportive wife watching him run his races and calling him crazy.  We have 4 kids.  Our oldest is 7 and our youngest is 1 1/2.  I homeschool our two oldest boys.  I have decided that I really want to lose my extra fat and get back into shape.  I have always hated to run but I think I am finally past that.  I hope to someday actually say that I love to run.  I would be proud to call myself a runner.  Most of my runs are on the treadmill because I'm unable to leave the kids home alone while I go out for a jog.

I'm finally starting up again.  To update, I had a healthy baby girl on Feb. 19.  The birth went beautifully.  I delivered her at home in water.  The labor was quick.  I wasn't even convinced that it was real labor until an hour before she was born.  She weighed 9lbs 11oz and we named her Eliza Anne.  I felt good enough to start at least walking again a week after that but I have 1. been lazy, and 2. have found it hard to put her down long enough.  She really likes to be held and cries when I'm not holding her so it may be hard to keep up a good routine.  My oldest has agreed to hold her some everyday so I can run but he can only do it so long before he's tired.

Anyhow, I did lose 20 lbs within a week of having her and my goal is another 20 so I'm going to try really hard to eat better and keep up the running.  I would also like to train and do another 1/2 marathon.  I'm thinking maybe Mesa Falls.  Today was a trial to see where I'm at because I haven't even walked since last August.  I got on and walked for 1/4 mile then started running at 5mph.  I thought it would be like when I very first started and I'd have to stop after 1/8 mile but I was able to keep going for 1/2 mile!  Then I walked again the last 1/4 mile.  Really not too bad considering how little I've done the last 8 months and how much junk food I've eaten.  Really, with all the sweets I ate, no wonder I had such a big baby!
